Just a little over a week after a raid on a cannabis business in Topeka, the Sheriff's Department has executed raids on several CBD retailers.
According to a press release from Sheriff Hill's office, the Shawnee County Drug Enforcement Task Force served search warrants on "multiple retail businesses throughout Shawnee County. Task Force officers seized illegal products that were being offered for sale and distributed to the general public."
In a report by KSNT, the owner of two CBD American Shaman shops in Topeka said that deputies raided the shops and seized around $20,000 worth of products. The owner of Sacred Leaf in Topeka told the news that they had over a dozen officers raid his store and take most of their products, about $15,000 worth.
The goal of the operation was to seize all delta-8 and similar products which Sheriff Hill believes are illegal after Attorney General Schmidt issued such an opinion. Now it is up to local sheriffs and DAs to go after these small local businesses (if they wish to waste taxpayer dollars on the "war on drugs"). The retail store owners have lab results to show why their products are being legally sold. Other than seizing all such products, the stores were given cease and desist notices ordering them to stop selling all delta-8, delta-9, and delta-10 products.
Even though one CBD shop had 80% of their inventory seized, law enforcement is touting the fact that no businesses were shut down today and no arrests were made.
